Default My hedgehog lost one of his pointy teeth...

So my hedgehog has always had these adorable snaggly fangs like a little baby lol it's his main feature since he's so grumpy. Well the other day I noticed he's missing one of his pointy "canine" teeth!! 😞

Is that okay? Will he be able to eat just fine? Is he at risk for infection or anything? He won't sit still long enough to let me look into his mouth, but I am 100% sure the whole tooth is gone, not just broken. He is 3 years old btw. Is it normal for them to loose teeth?

What should I do?? ☹️

Hey there! It’s definitely a concern that your hedgie broke a canine; there is the possibility that the whole tooth fell out, which would actually be better than a broken tooth. A broken tooth is more prone to infection and bacterial growth, as part of the root is exposed. None the less, veterinary assistance should be highly considered, as this could very quickly become a problem. I’m so sorry to hear about it!
Hope this helps 🙂

Thanks! I know a broken tooth would be an issue, as in any other animals. I have a professor who is also a vet for livestock and exotics. I'll ask him to take a look and my hedgie.

Thanks again!

He is either just barely 4, or about to turn 4 soon
