Default bloody quills, Help!

Hi Everyone,
I have had my hedgie for about 2 months. Since getting him his quills have had dead blood in the quill at the base. He has been to the vet and treated for mites 2x but the vet didnt see any, it was preventative. He has had a change in food and added vitamins which were to boost his immune system. It seemed as though it was getting better until one day recently i looked at him and almost all of his quills were dark brown at the base and falling out. He is almost naked! I dont know what to do i just gave him a medicated bath per the vet. Has anyone seen anything like this?!
Thanks so much

Has the vet done a skin scraping to check for bacterial or fungal infections? I would have a scrape done and have a culture and sensitivity done.

She took his quills and looked at them under the microscope, she gave us a perscription wash to use but didn't suspect any bacterial infection or fungus as his skin looks good. She suspects it may be autoimmune.
