Default Sneezing

Hi, I got my hedgie about a week ago and for the past three days he has been sneezing and his nose is more wet than usual. I took him to the breeder who said that he is fine that it could be that the carefresh bedding that I was using for him is affecting his nose. His eyes have no discharge and he is eating and drinking water and come out at night and is very active. The sneezing is what has me worried since I read that it could be a URI. Please help!

Carefresh is very dusty. Try switching him to liners. If it keeps up after about a day, it's most likely the beginnings of a URI. Very treatable as long as you don't wait too long. It requires an antibiotic; usually Baytril is what's prescribed.

I had the same problem (a runny nose, some strange noises like sneezing)- than my breeder told me, that some vitamins could help if it's only from the transport (a little low temperature when we were going home).
But if you'll find any transparent bubbles coming from his nose, it's URI and you have to give him atbs - we were on them for 7 days, but maybe 8-10 is better to be sure he's definitely fine.

O(h)M(y)H(edgehog)!
We went to the cottage before 15 days, it was two months from his "maybeURI-antibiotics-story" and we have a problem again.
It must be the stress from new conditions, I can't travel with him anymore...

But he has only a bit runny nose and sometimes he does some noises like sneezing, but not much loudly. No bubbles from his nose - he had a lot of bubbles after his first journey, but it dissapeared with atbs.

Could it be only a cold after some stress and from not as constant temperature as he needs, and your hedgehog is OK now - or should I visit a vet and buy some atbs? It lasts for two weeks and it's same every day.
I hope I could go there without him, because we now have winter here.

Thanks.
