Default My hedgehog isnít eating or drinking, only running on wheel

Hello! Iím a fairly new hedgehog owner (Iíve had him for about 2 months now) and my boy, crow, hasnít had anything to eat or drink in a few days and I canít figure out why. He eats his worms that I feed him but doesnít eat his food mix or drink his water...I havenít changed either of these things. When I get him out of the cage he runs around and seems very energetic, and hasnít been showing signs of being tired or lethargic. At night I can hear him running on his wheel and when I wake up heís still on it, should I take the wheel away? Should I take him to the vet? Iím starting to feel concerned about dehydration and I might just try giving him water from a syringe so he gets something...Iím not sure what I should do 😞

Don't take the wheel away it will just cause him to become stressed. Count how many pieces of food you give him at night and count what's left in the morning to see just how much he eats. What are you giving him water in? a bowl or dish? If he doesn't eat in the next 24 hours then you're going to have to syringe feed him.

He drinks his water from those water bottles that you see in guinea pig cages (itís what he had before at the store I got him at) Iím assuming a bowl or dish is better? He used to drink out of it just fine. Iíll do this and see how it goes, thank you 🙏

Are you 100% sure he's not drinking? While a bowl or dish is better for your hedgehog sometimes it makes it hard to tell if they're drinking. Hedgehogs only drink a tablespoon or two of water a day.

You might want to try putting a bowl with water under the bottle and see if he will drink from that.
