Default Red pimple sores

Hi all,

My hedgehog, Beau, has just had a bath and I've noticed that he has red bumps on his bum they look almost like boils or pimples. Can anyone inform me what they are and what I should do?

He is just over a year and has recently gone through quilling. Which I've read up isn't too unusual for his age.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

I think you should get that checked out by the vet.

Head to the vet. They look like possibly abscesses or something, but you'll need a vet to take a look at them & diagnose what they are in order to treat them.

Thank you I will be taking him to the vet today. I'm just worried as most vets here have no experience with hedgies

It should be okay for them to treat this - it's not a health issue that's specific to hedgehogs & would likely come up in other animals too. Hedgehogs are just more prone to skin-related infections because their quills create so many openings to the body when they grow in. Good luck with the vet!
