Default Hedgehog falling on one side and breathing heavy

Hello, I need a bit of advice. My hedgehog Percy is usually a rather active hedgie and at dinner time he was outside of his bed on the floor so I picked him up and he was all droopy and seemed like he had no energy, he's a bit shaky and is breathing really fast. I'm really worried. He ate 3 mealworms and drank some water but can't seem to settle down,
Any ideas?????

How old is he? That's not normal behaviour, you should call your vet asap and keep an eye on him in the meantime. Is he warm or cold to the touch?

Hopefully someone with more experience can give you more advice but I think you should definitely call your vet and take him in on their instruction.

This is rather late, but how is your hedgehog doing now? Can you feel his belly & is it warm? Do you have a heating set up for his cage, and what is it? What temperature is his cage? And do you have a light schedule for him?

hello everyone, thank you for your advice but my lovely Hedgie Percy died on the way to the exotics vet. I live in England and the vet was over an hour away, we did get a post mortem done and he sadly had fatty liver and the vet said there was no way we could've known that he had this problem as symptoms come on very quick. I am absolutely heartbroken but he's been sent to a crematorium and is going to be returned to me in a lovely casket with his name engraved on it. He was such a sweet, gentle soul. RIP my lovely Percy xxx
