Post New Hoglet Won't Eat!

I have had an 8 week old hogley for 48 hours and he hasn't eaten a thing! I'm not sure if he's drank.

He had a 2 hour car journey when I first got him, and then I left him alone, today he was up and came over to sniff my hands, he didn't see scared, he was busy exploring and didn't mind me being around.

I have given him the exact same food the breeder gave him.

Any idea's whats up and if I can do anything to help him?

All help is greatly appreciated! x

Try putting some of his kibble in his bed with him. Often they will eat if the food is right there. Count the kibble you give him so you will know exactly how much he has or has not eaten.

He may still be a little overwhelmed, like Nancy said they should eat when they're comfy, once he gets used to everything and settles in he should be okay, it's a new place I'm sure he'll be fine after a few days, just keep an eye on him to make sure it doesnt turn into something serious.
Congrats on the new hedgie!

If you're worried about him not drinking enough, try offering him some water on a spoon. I find that Poggles will readily drink from a spoon

I agree with the advice about putting food in his sleeping spot. Poggles loves to eat secretly in his pouch/dome/hiding place when he's supposedly sleeping.

Thank you all! I checked this morning and he'd eaten it all! Hopefully that means he's settling in!
