Default why isn't he quilling?

i confirmed with the pet store i bought Pumpkin at that they get their hedgehogs when they are 6-8 weeks old. i've had pumpkin for around a month, and his quills are very small and sharp, and i never see them lay flat even once. i think it is because his quills are so small that he is unable to lay them flat..but why isn't he quilling? he should be around three months old now, and shouldnt he be quilling?

Hedgie's actually have a range of time in which they quill. Some will quill sooner, and some later. Maybe your hedgie is one of the later ones.

I don't think the size of the quill affects whether they can lay their quills down. I've seen pictures of young hedgehogs with their quills down. I remember my first hedgehog left his mum early and he could lay down his quills just fine.

Maybe your hedgie is just a very nervous boy?

Don't worry, hedgies can lay their quills flat at all ages. Hey's probably just still shy around you. There's a chance he's already done most of his quilling, but he may just be younger than expected and hasn't started yet. A picture of his quills could help us determine if he's quilled yet or not.

He definitely looks done with quilling to me! I'd even say he's at or near full grown.

LOL, absolutely. When a pet store DOESN'T lie is when I'm surprised.
