Talking URGENT!!!

I was playing with Heidi today, when I noticed this...
It almost looks like cat hair and dandruff.
Is this normal quilling?
Or is this mites?

How old is she? That looks like alot of fur and dander...Emma has only gone through her 9 week quill (12 to happen soon ) so I am not 100% sure if that is normal but at her 9week quill Emma did not loose fur like that and skin did not flake like that either. If she is not at an appopriate quilling age I would get her checked.

I looked at the white dots with an extreme macro camera lens, and they looked like skin, I dident notice any moving. Idk if its mites or not.
She has been very active and energetic. She dousent act like she is in pain or in any way uncomfortable.

That really does seem like too much hair just to be associated with quilling. Usually finding five or six hairs is no cause for concern, but that much hair I'd be concerned about. Any balding on her that is present? Like on the belly, sides, legs, anything bare patches?

In my opinion, I wouldn't be too worried.
I have experienced hair loss like this when my hedgehogs have gotten very dry skin.
Is your hedgehog's skin really dry? If it is, add a little flax seed oil to her kibble every few days. You can also drizzle some over her back, or add the oil to bath bath water.
If that doesn't do the trick, then perhaps it's something else.

There were only 4 full pieces of hair, the rest were supper small slivers.
There are no bald spots.
She could be dry. I live in New Mexico, so its really hot and dry. I havent given her a bath is a while.
I will give her a nice long bath, and then monitor her closely.
What if I try misting her cadge mike I do with my snake?

Some hedgehogs also shed in the summertime. A few of ours shed particularly noticeably - that pretty much looks like my shirt after I cuddle them. The skin flakes are just dry skin - I've also seen much much worse in that regard. You can try flaxseed oil, it's the standard remedy, although it's not always very effective in my experience. (Also I've found that it's greasy, a little weird smelling, and gives the quills and any skin flakes a yellow tinge.) There are a few topical sprays for dry skin - Humilac and Sunshine Factor, and I think there's a third but I don't remember the name of it. I can't comment on Sunshine Factor, but I've used Humilac and it's been amazing. Just something else to consider.

So the flakes was just dry skin. I gave her a bath when I put up the post, and i havent seen any flakes since.
And its official, she is just quilling.
