Default First vomit?

I have a couple of concerns about my boy, I feed him spikes delight ultra (he's been on that his whole life), and ordered a bag a couple days ago. Due to money reasons (credit card fraud), I was unable to buy his food sooner, so what he has been eating is basically the bottom of the bag, and it takes him three months roughly to go through it, so I have no idea if it is expired or not. I don't want to feed him expired food at all, so I have been looking into cat food I can use for the time being, please suggest the ones you use, petsmart is my only option.

It didn't look like he wheeled last night, no poop tracks on it, he did poop elsewhere but not a lot, but right on the fleece under/in front of his wheel, were vomit splats of what looks like kibble. He has never done this before and I'm quite scared as I have heard hedgehogs can get sick and deteriorate quickly. He has a light schedule and his cage stays at 84/85 degrees. I cleaned his cage yesterday so it definitely happened last night.
I have took a picture of it, Picture 1 Picture 2

If he is throwing up due to the food, is it safe to switch him over? I'm scared it will upset him but he can't eat expired food either.

I'm calling my vet tomorrow morning to try and get him in as soon as possible. I never let his food get that low in the bin but it couldn't be helped at all this time around, it happened in july, he still had quite a bit of food then, and we just got everything settled a week ago.
