Default Excessive scratching

I recently got my first hedgehog, Chico, this past Saturday and I believe he is quilling because he has been losing quills but I have also seen knew quills come in. At the same time he would scratch himself a little but not too much. But yesterday and today I noticed he has been scratching himself a lot more. He's been scratching himself for at least 6 seconds and does it a couple times in a row. I decided to give him a bath today because I noticed dry skin was coming off whenever he would scratch. When I got him wet he turned to the side and I noticed he had a huge red spot, roughly the size of a pea, and this was the same spot he has been scratching. I am a little worried because I think I saw some puss in his wound. I have also noticed little quills coming in.

I was able to take a picture of it but this one is the best one I have of it

*I have not checked for mites yet but I will tonight

You're going to need to take him to the vet to have that treated. I would treat him for mites even if they don't find any. Mites are often hard to see and even a skin scraping doesn't always show them. He may also need antibiotics for the sore on his back.
