Default Cloudy eyes and loss of control of hind legs in a VERY old hedgehog

I'm sorry for the long (probably rambling post) but I'm desperate for some advice, and would really appreciate any help you can give me.

I've had my lovely female African Pygmy since she was a couldn of weeks old. She's now 7 and a half.
I've been so lucky with her, because she's been the loveliest, tamest pet ever and I've had literally no health problems or concerns with her! The only time she's been to a vet was when I first got her and I was too nervous to trim her nails myself!

I noticed probably a year or so ago that she was slowing down a bit... Her flying saucer used to be filthy every morning, but it became apparent she was only using it occasionally. This didn't worry me because she seemed fine in every other way, and still ran about like a wild thing when I let her have floor time.

A couple of weeks ago, I noticed her eyes were slightly clouded, but it was ever so slight that I wasn't sure if it was the lighting or not. Some days they look normal, or like there's a white pupil, and other times it seems like there's a very slight white film over her eye. I spoke to a friend who is a vet, and he said just keep an eye on her but it's probably just old age.

However today, I went to refresh her water bowl, and she was up and about (actually she was having a wee!) and as soon as she started walking I noticed something was wrong.
She's leaning slightly (and I mean slightly) to one side, not really losing her balance, but she back legs look like they have no strength in them whatsoever. They ljterally look as though she's wearing divers flippers, dragging herself along.

I picked her up and put her down on the carpet in a different room, and she was exactly the same. It's like she's dragging herself completly from her front legs. She still is able to move her back legs and feet, but she doesn't hold herself up with them if that makes sense.
I picked her up again, and gently brushed all her legs (she's a very tame hedgie and has no problem with me touching any part of her body). She didn't react at all when I touched her back legs, so I'm hoping that she's not in pain.

I also checked her stomach, and it was warm and felt normal. About three years ago she tried to hibernate, and this doesn't seem the same at all.

Thank you so much for reading. Obviously we are going to the vets ASAP, but any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
For now she's got her cuddle pad, fresh food and water and I'm leaving her have peace and quiet.

Thanks again.

I think you're doing the best you can for her right now. 7 and half years is really long for a hedgehog! I hope everything goes well at the vet's, best of luck.

Wow, 7 and a half is an amazing age for your little lady.

My hedgehog passed away this week, and he stopped eating/running a month ago. He started to eat again, but I noticed similar walking issues and he didn't run in his wheel, even after he was eating a lot again.

My vet wasn't sure what was wrong. But after his cremation we learned he had some kind of lump or tumor or cancer.

So, it could just be regular aging for her.
It could be something inside that's causing the issues, like it was for my hedgehog. So, anything that could show that - like an xray, might be a good idea just to be sure.
