Default Green sticky poo

Recently I have been experiencing strange things within my hedgehog and his personality. It started last week when he wasn't eating (or eating very little) and was very inactive on his wheel. Today when I was cleaning out his run I saw a little circle of very black poo? I spreaded it around it it turned very stringy and green. He is eating the same food, 12-14 hours of light a day and being kept at about 24-25 degrees centigrade. So nothing has changed and yet this is happening I went to the vet before and he said try a new type of food, so I'm going to try that from today. Please respond if you can help

If he's having issues with his bowels, a food change right now isn't the best idea. What has he eaten within the past few days? Maybe a treat might be the culprit. Was the poop fresh or older? Sorry I know not the most pleasant conversation topic....

He hasn't really had any treats recently because the shop sold out if his favourites so it can't of been that.

He is on this very nice looking cat food that he has been on his whole life, so I really don't know what has happened!

So I have a few questions for you, if you can answer them, that would help a lot!

- What's the name of the food?

- Is the bag you have particularly old or new? Old bags can go stale & cause a hedgie to stop eating as much. New bags could have a new formula that causes an upset stomach.

- Did the vet take a stool sample to check? That would be a really good idea, to check for both parasites & intestinal infections. You don't need to take your hedgehog in - call the office & let them know you'd like to bring in a stool sample for testing. Make sure you take it in within 24 hours of collecting it, preferably within 12 hours or as fresh as possible. Keep it in the fridge if you need to wait to take it in.
