Unhappy excessive quilling adult

I bought Carmichael in April. I am his second owner and when I bought him they were unsure about his age but they said he was around 10 months old. Carmichael began quilling in December and I assumed they had just guessed his age wrong. However now it is march and he is still quilling. the quills all have the little balls at the end. Every time I clean his cage there are several quills in there. In his little hut which i change out the blanket weekly i find about 30 quills. He is not itchy at all and they are growing back as quickly as he loses them he does not have any bald spots. his eating and drinking habits has not changed and he still runs on his wheel every night. Should I be worried?? Any ideas??

Some hedgies quill around one year of age, if his quills are growing back then I wouldn't worry.

It's the exact same with my Oreo. But he was born sept 1. Started quilling in December and still going. Can you see new quills coming in?

Ive been having the same issues with Quinn lately and I was going to post about it. I have nothing that can give her mites but she's been dropping qills like crazy. She has no bald spots so I'm not sure what's causing it.

My 9 month old female is also doing this.
We have 4 hedgies and she is the only one doing it.
Again, everything else is the same, eating, drinking, wheeling.
No dry skin

Next thought was is something missing in the diet?
They get Innova cat, blue buffolo cat, spikes delight, mealworms,
sometimes organic baby food.

The cage is changed twice a week and they are on fleece liners.
lots of interesting things in the cage like a rock garden, fleece toys,
a bucket wheel.

No bald spots, but still dropping quills?
This has me stumped.

She did try to hibernate last month before I moved her into a better cage and added more heat.
She was so to the ground before and must have gotten chilled.
She came out of her attempt right away and was fine the same day.
I'm retired and home most of the time so I caught it quick.
This is my thought as to why she is quilling at this time???????
