Default my poor babies :[

The 23rd of December I brought my little girl Daisy in to the er vet with the runs it turned out she had clostridium found in her poo and was put on some antibiotics and a dewormer just in case. I brought her back in to her regular vet last Friday because her front leg had a very swollen joint. She felt that maybe the infection had spread since Daisy wasn't put on the antibiotics long enough, put her on a stronger antibiotic, an anti-inflammatory, probiotic, as well as her starting the second round of her dewormer. It's not Tuesday and her swelling hasn't gone down :[ She'll be back into the vet tomorrow morning the vet wants to take an x-ray this makes me very worried :[ My little baby Willow will also be joining her tomorrow as she hasn't eaten or had any water for the past two nights. Fortunately I got her to hunt down some crickets, syringed her some water and she gobbled down some watermelon. I hope everything can be figured out tomorrow I'm so worried for my two little girls. Has anyone had an experience with either of these problems? The vet seemed to be somewhat stumped when I talked to her and told her about how Daisy isn't getting better, she'll be two in April and eats and drinks like she always has but since starting her new meds hasn't been as active, maybe because they upset her belly? Any help or ideas would be appreciated!

Sorry to hear what you are going through, I hope they feel better soon. One thing I noticed is you said they were given a dewormer by the vet but I have never heard of hedgies having worms or being treated for them. Hopefully someone that knows will be along soon.

Sending well wishes your way.

What are the exact names of the medications and dewormer as well as the doses that were prescribed?

If one has clostridium, chances are good the other does too. I have never dealt with it so can't give any advice but I do know it is easily passed and can be difficult to get rid of.

Although worms aren't as common in hedgehogs as they are with other animals, hedgehogs can get them. What I've noticed over the years is worms seem to be more of an issue in warmer areas of the US. That being said, any of them can get worms if they are exposed.

What antibiotic is she on?
