Exclamation heat emitter bulb burnt out.. uh oh!

Last night sometime my ceramic heat emitter burnt out, and I'm worried Gus might get too cold. I do have a heating pad under his cage, and since he usually sleeps all day, that should be fine right? Either myself or my boyfriend is going to get another bulb today so he'll be warm running his marathons tonight, but that won't be until this evening as we both work full time.

Any other ideas to try and keep him warm throughout the day? I don't want him attempting hibernation

Hopefully the heating pad will be OK for the day since you are getting a new bulb for tonite.

In the past when my CHE burnt out or during a power failure I've loosely wrapped one of those reflective emergency blankets around/over the cage (the type runners get after a marathon). I've also used a blanket over the cage to keep heat in. Both cases, be sure there's still air circulation in the cage & the material isn't touching anything hot that could create a fire.

Also, in case you haven't, be sure you've unpluged the CHE fixture until you get a new bulb. Otherwise your sending electricity to a dead end (or rather bulb) which can create electrical issues on its own.

I have a 150 watt, but I know 100 watt is also popular. Depends on the size of ur cage.

depends on room temperature, if you get a bulb that is too strong u can always move it farther away from the cage
