When my hedgie moves in mid January or mid February (depending on litter sizes, of course) I will have a space heater in my room keeping it warm, but can I also get a heating pad and put a fleece cover around it for under his igloo? It would be set on low, and probably only on during the day while I'm at school so I don't have to worry about the space heater going off for some reason.
I've seen varying opinions places about heating pads because of burn concerns and such...any ideas? |

I have used a heating pad and a space heater for all the hedgehogs that I have owned. There are heating pads online for hedgehogs that are very safe. You could also use hand warmers if you are taking the hedgie out of the cage!

If you're careful with it and make sure it's always wrapped up, it shouldn't be a problem for you. Keep in mind that it's the temperature of the air that's important for your hedgie. A heating pad would help if the space heater turned off, but definitely not for a long period of time (especially if hedgie gets too warm being on the pad and moves somewhere else to sleep - a hibernation attempt is possible).
Lilysmommy has one that she loves. She posted a review of it in the Product Reviews section and I bet she included a link to buy it online. ![]()
