Default Soft lump on back

I just brought Spike back from the vet. He has a large raised bump on his back. The vet tried to extract fluid, but none back out. Not a sist - not hard. Any ideas? it is right inbetween his shoulder blades. Spike is very "hissy" probably from the needle yesterday. Usually a happy hedgie, but does not even want to be held.

Your vet didn't offer any idea as to what it may be, or what other diagnostic test need to be done to determine the nature of the lump? I'm assuming the vet attempted a fine needle aspirate, did he get any tissue to come out and did he examine it under a microscope?

She did a the needle but no fluid came out. We are keeping in eye on it and the vet will call back monday to check on him. It is odd, not bother him and it has seen to gone down. He has always had a small fatty place on his back, this just got bigger, but since he is on some meds it has gone down a bit. I know he fell off his new wheel (he was going to fast and could not stop it soon enough. Maybe just a bruise. Not sure.
