Default Pfeffer Surgery!

So this weekend Pfeffer was put on antibiotics to investigate the source of her bloody urine. The urine seemed mostly clear until Tuesday night when I got up to check on her, so much blood that it even smelled like uterine blood. She had her surgery on Wednesday, and came through it with flying colors. The uterus was enlarged but looked normal, a tumor or reproductive issues like endometriosis are possible. A few hours after surgery she was already huffing at the vet and eating that night. It was my vet's first hedgehog spay and I'm very pleased with the results. She came home today, a little cranky but seemed happier then when she felt miserable!

Yes I'm very happy she's doing so well. My local vet has been wonderful, she's the most reasonably priced in all of Madison for hedgehogs. I had it done at Candlin Pet Hospital. Any really complicated cancer/vital organ issues I'd probably take her to UW Vet Hospital even though they're really overpriced. I know everyone on here says to only have a vet spay who's spayed many other hedgehogs but my faith in my local vet was not misplaced They even kept her overnight for me since I was having health issues of my own the past 2 nights.

I'm glad she's doing well and I'm sure she will feel so much better in a few days.

Thank you for all the advice Nancy! Her first potty today appears to be completely yellow. So far so good!
