My 8 month old male hedgehog has a veiny-looking lump near his tail. It doesn't seem to hurt him, and he's as active as usual, but I wondered if I should be worried. PLEASE HELP!

i can't get him to let me take a picture, but it's a fleshy, veiny lump by his tail, right next to his leg. has anyone ever seen this before?

Is it like red ? normal skin colored? inflammed? not inflammed?

will he unball for you? if you cup in your hand loosely balled you should be able to get a pic in the general area of his tail at least no? My stinker if she will not let me see I can gently cup her with both hands kinda itching her middle back...then I use my thumbs on the quill line and pull it back slightly to see her bum

Hopefully someone will come along soon that might have an idea...if he is in distress (breathing weird or anything abnormal like that) you should go to vet asap. If he seems fine/normal tho likely ok to wait and make an appt to have them look at it.

Just wanted to add...most vets have a 24 hr number for after hours and will be able to advise what can or can not wait for a vet trip

If it is at his anus, he needs to see a vet immediately as it could be a prolapsed rectum or the start of one.

Otherwise, as has been mentioned already, if he is acting normal, waiting until this morning should be fine.
