Default Small black dot on back

So this morning I noticed a small blackish scab-like raised dot between the quills on my hedgie's back. He's only about a month and a half old and I got him two days ago, so I thought maybe he's still quilling, but his quills are white...I've been looking but haven't noticed any quill loss, especially not in clumps with skin attached which might indicated mites. But obviously I'm not sure. He's been wheeling regularly, eating and drinking fine. His poops look normal, no green. His cage is at 75 degrees. I know it's not paint from the breeder, because some of his quills had that, but it was a neon green. There is nothing to indicate that anything is wrong, so I'm wondering if maybe it is related to quilling. Any ideas?

A picture would help but it sounds like a reverse pinto spot to me

A raised blackish scab like dot is not a reverse pinto spot.

Is there only one? It is in an area that he could scratch or rub on something. It may be an ingrown quill, injury or a skin infection. Check him all over and see if there are any other spots or red spots.

There is only one, and I think it might be an ingrown quill since it sort of looks like there's a quill starting to grow out of it. I guess maybe it was just irritated?
