Default Loosing Quills

My hedgehog Tofu (who I own with HydroThunder, if you've seen any of his past posts) has been loosing quills consistently for the past 4 months. She has super dry flakey skin, which we have treated with flax seed oil in both her food and on her skin directly. We have had her checked for mites (negative) and ringworm (negative). We have changed her food to a more hedgehog based recommended diet, and we have monitored the temperature extremely closely to make sure she isn't too warm or too cold. We also tried sunshine factor, which did nothing to help the situation. She loses quills by just walking a few steps and her backside is almost completely bald, although there is some sign of quills regrowing. She runs and eats and cuddles normally, and has always been a very sweet and social hedgehog which hasn't changed. We are both at a loss on what to do next, and so it our vet. I just want my hedgehog to get better does anyone know what we can do next? Please we are so desperate at this point.

Have you treated her for mites? even if a skin scraping is negative there can still be mites present. A negative skin scraping just means there were no mites at that spot at that time. Since there really are no side effects with using Revolution, I would have her treated just in case and see if that helps.

I know Nancy had a hedgie with hormone related quill loss and that spaying the hedgie helped, you might want to ask her about that.
