Default swollen ankle

When I was giving Sonic his bath yesterday I noticed his ankle had some moderate swelling. There were also some little scabs on it. I have two theories on what happened. He hurt it and it biting at it. Or her got bit and his ankle swelled up like a balloon. He doesn't favor it much, a little bit though. He doesn't enjoy it being touched, rightfully so. It has got quite a bit more swollen (in my opinion)

I just wanted to make sure my course of action was straight. I found it yesterday and was going to give it three days to either go down, or swell up more. If the swelling doesn't change or gets bigger by tomorrow we are going to the vet. This sound okay? He's also had some food strikes lately...he'll go for anywhere from 1-3 days without eating. He didn't eat the night before last but I think he ate last night. It's hard to tell because I took away his wheel he's angry and is using his food bowl as a toilet paper tube....even though he has one!

Also, does anyone know of any good vets in the FortCollins-Greeley-Denver area of Colorado? I have heard of a few, there's one in Greeley that treats my chins and has treated hedgehogs, but that doesn't mean he's a hedgehog vet. There's a vet in Denver that is highly reccomended for exotics but I haven't used him before due to him not being on call for emergencies.

Thanks!

I would take him to the vets asap. It's not good for them to be going without food that long and can cause fatty liver disease to set in. The food strikes along with visible injury on his foot warrants a vet visit in my opinion.

I wish you good luck there and hope it all turns out good.

I handfeed when he doesn't eat and it takes one day of handfeeding and he's eating again. I mean seriously?

My issue is that I have so many vets who treat exotics but I can't tell if they really do or if they just want to make me pay more. I'm gonna take him if the swelling doesn't go down. He doesn't act bothered by it unless you touch it.

We have an appointment with Dr. Fitzgerald at Alameda East tomorrow. He seems to be favoring it more today, and his hip is odd also...

Good luck! I hope he's okay and it's just a minor injury. Keep us updated, please!
