Default Is fake grass okay to put in the cage?

Would this be okay to let my hedgie play in:

Could it be in the cage all the time, as long as the hedgie didn't try and eat it?
It can be cut so it's not super long, and I'd find a way to zip tie it down.
If the holes are a problem, which I think they may be, I can fill them in. My boyfriend has this plastic stuff, that he can melt (or soften) and place this onto the soft plastic and wait for it to harden, then cut around the edges.

I don't see why it couldn't be - I believe MissC has some fake plants and stuff in her hedgie's cage that she'll hide crickets in? I think it's a pretty cute idea, personally.

If you're worried about the holes, you could fill them in like you said or even just "plant" the sheet in a low-lying container filled with dirt or gravel.

It used to be possible to buy the same thing at Walmart for $4...I don't know if they still carry it, but the craft stores also have a big variety of fake grass. You might be able to find one with a solid backing. I think hedgie feet might get caught in the plastic grid. Burying it wouldn't really help because hedgies will dig.

My only caution would be to check how 'sharp' the grass is. That stuff looks like the underwater stuff, which can be pretty stiff & sharp. Watch out for hedgies eyes.
