Default Please Help Adding A Loft To My Cage?

Hi guys I thought I would make my own thread since I touched on my question about zoeys cage on the cage example thread but wasnt getting any advice. Here's my question how would I add a loft to zoeys cage? I've got a plastic drawer that is completely enclosed around the sides so there's no risk of her falling over the sides and hurting herself. My question is what would I use for a ramp for her to get up to the loft and how would I mount the ramp to the loft? AND What would I use to mount the container to the cage and also what could I use to cut an entrance way into the drawer as it is really hard plastic? sorry for all the questions I just really want to do this for my zoey because I feel bad about the amount of floor space she has available to her. As always thanks for any and all help.

Can you post pictures of the cage and the drawer you are talking about using? That might give us a better idea on how to help you out.

my cage setup can be seen on the last page of the cage setup example thread and Ill try to get a picture of the drawer tomorrow but it's just a plastic drawer that is used for storage. you typically see them in the storage shelves that come in like 6 drawer in the storage set. this might give you a slight idea of what I'm talking about but my container has 6-8 drawers in it.. but it's essentiallly the same. hope this helps.

Will try to help more thoroughly later, but for now, do you have tin snips or a dremel that you could use to cut the plastic? Those are my two main plastic-cutting-tools around here. For a ramp, I actually have only used tubes in the past, though they are hard to clean. You can get vinyl dryer vent tubes, or plastic ferret tubes. Otherwise you can make a ramp with something like storage cube grids and bend them in 3rds that way they have walls, and then line the whole ramp with coroplast or another solid material.

Thanks for the response LG. I do have a dremel, and just now thinking about the ramp issue. I have this cage in storage that I used for my ferrets. I was thinking what if I use one of the ramps for Zoey do you think that would be okay? how would I mount the container to the cage and what would I use for walls on this ramp even though I'm fairly sure the ramp has grooves in it so she would get good traction when she walks up and down it but I don't won't her risk falling over the side and what would be the best thing to safely mount the ramp to the container and container to cage. thanks again guys http://www.amazon.com/Super-Pet-Deluxe- ... erret+cage

Use the tube ramp instead of the open ramps or if you use dryer vent you can put small holes in it and zip tie it. I looked at your cage and depending on how tall that drawer is you may not be able to use it honestly. If it is to tall it will take up floor space even if its not sitting on the floor and Zoey may not have enough room to go under it. The ramp will take up space as well. What are you wanting to put into the loft since some hediges wont use it. You will need some kind of support for it as well. I suppose you could use zip ties to attach it to the cage but that will be a pain when you have to clean it. Maybe bolts, washers and a wing nut might work but you will have to drill holes in the drawer. Sorry not much help on this maybe just creating more of a headache for you.
