Question Ferret Nation Cage

I am getting my girl next week, and I want to give her the best cage possible. Is a ferret nation cage an option? If so, what modifications do I have to do to make it hedge hog safe? What other cage options do I have? I want to get a double ferret nation cage. With the top being her cage and the bottom for storage. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Devin

I personally feel the Ferret Nation or the Critter Nation are the best cages there are. They are escape proof and are safe from other pets in the household.

They are also perfect for using a heat emitter setup as you can set the emitter on the loft. If you do set the emitter on the loft, it must be secured so it doesn't slide off.

In my FN, I have stiff plastic cut to fit between the lowest cross bars and it's woven in and out of the bars all around the cage. Hmmm, not sure that makes sense. Not only does this keep out drafts, but it also keeps cat paws from reaching in.

Thanks for the reply! is there any step by step instruction on modifications? I just want to do it right! I am new to all of this. I am also not sure what kinda of heating is required for these cages. I would love more information on this.
Thanks,
Devin

What about a C & C cage? How would I build one of those and is it a good idea? She will be 8 weeks old next week. I currently have a guinea pig cage with a plastic bottom. Is that a good cage to have for just a lil 8 week old hedgie? I was thinking about getting her a ferret nation cage or c & c cage when she get a wee bit bigger. What do you suggest?
Thanks,
Devin

I got Ichiro at 6 weeks old and I put him in a 3x2 with a 2x1 loft c&c cage.

Sometimes they don't really like change so I would think just putting him a the final cage is the way to go.

This is my C&C I'm just finishing up! All I need is a CHE and I'm good to go. As long as you don't mess up on the coroplast like I did they are fairly easy to build lol the best thing about them is you can make them any size or shape best for you

To answer your question on how to build a C&C cage you'll need wire storage cubes you can find packs of them at Walmart or target any place like that, coroplast or any other material that is more waterproof, flat for the bottom and prevents climbing. Coroplast you can usually find at a hard wear store like home Depot. You can look up tutorials on them and also look at the stickies here on cages. Other then those things you'll need lots of zip ties

Thank you everyone! Has anybody ordered an already built c & c cage from cavy cages.com or eBay? They have covered cages that have lofts. If that is not an option I will just build one.

Thanks,
Devin
