Default House to House?

Hello Miss Kay and Brillo again,
We are faced with the trouble of my frequent travel to work. The dilemma is that I want to be able to take him with me to continue with the bonding, but I regularly stay with my mother the evening before a work day. His cage is very large and not the easiest to travel around with. I'm wondering what I can use to bring him along that he can stay in for a night or two. But I also do not want to frighten or confuse him. Would it be better for him if I just struggle and take his large cage around when I visit my mother, or if I leave him at home and have someone offer him very minimal care... or use some sort of bin that I can keep at my mother's home? Any advice would be very helpful, thank you!

I often visit my parents for the weekend because they are only 3 hours away and luckily, I have a roommate who doesn't mind helping. All I ask of him is for him to take out Slash's food and water dish, clean them out, and replace it when he first wakes up and before he goes to bed. I usually leave friday afternoon, and before I go, I will completely clean his cage and give him a bath so my roommate will only have to technically take care of him on Saturday/Sunday morning.

Another thing you can do is to have a portable cage. I have a huge plastic bin that I have drilled holes into to allow ventilation into the bin and you can just put the necessities like his house, food, wheel, etc. I live in Knoxville, TN and we have been experiencing HORRIBLE weather here the past few months so I had to prepare a "just in case we need to evacuate or cram into the bathroom" cage for all of my babies. Slash has never been in the cage over night but I know he would be okay with it only cause he gets put in there every time I have to clean his cage or before a play session so he can empty his bowels so it's very familiar to him but I don't know if Brillo would like that very much...

You can purchase the Marshall Folding Mini Mansion, which is a collapsible ferret cage... much like the Ferret Nation... but that's if you want to invest more money @[email protected]

Thank you both for your responses!
I think I will go with the bin idea until I can afford to buy him a portable cage of some sort. I just hope the bin isn't going to make it difficult for him to breathe? The portable cage is a good idea too, but I'll have to put aside a bit for that.

I've seen some really neat things done with the plastic bins. You can drill a bunch of holes on the sides of the plastic bin and cut out a hug portion of the lid and insert a screen like this(minus the bin connection part): https://hedgehogcentral.com/2plastic.shtml
Good luck!
