Still, those domes can get very hot. I would hate for there to be a fire when it was 100% preventable. And it's not a good idea to cover the entire cage with a blanket. They need to have good ventilation. Big smells come out of little hedgehogs and it would suck to be stuck in a place with no air flow to compensate for that. Having a proper lid would allow for that. They aren't hard to make either. It can be done with additional wire grids, wire mesh, or there are wire shelves that you would typically hang on the wall in a closet. Those make great lids. The other advantage is that aside from keeping the hedgehog in, it keeps other things out. Other pets for example. Or if something fell, better it land on top of the cage rather than in the cage.

Agreed, I would put more space between the cloth and the lamps. I had my CHE lamp burn a hole into a fleece blanket once because part of the blanket fell onto the lamp (not the bulb, just the outside of the lamp). I was relieved that it happened while I was doing bonding time and I caught it relatively quickly rather than having it sit overnight or something.
