I know they go through a quilling at 8-12 weeks, my little guy is just over 6 weeks and I noticed 5 tiny quills this morning in the bottom of his cage. I put a dark colored fleece liner in his cage last night, so I'm not sure if this happens all of the time, or if this just happened last night. I think they are quills, they seem stiffer than fur, but they were white. Very small, not anywhere near the size of full sized quills.

Yup, this is normal. They go through a quilling phase around 6-7 weeks as well.
