Weight Fluctuation and Sleeping
Hector is (roughly) four months old. I got him at 3 months. Two questions here.
For the first two weeks, I weighed him and the food he was eating every day so I could get a picture of what was normal for him as quickly as possible. He will eat anywhere between 7 and 10 grams of his kibble, but his weight was nearly 296, give or take a gram either way. I relaxed and didn't put him on the scales for a few days, then BAM last night he weighed 305g.
Does anyone else weigh their hedgies every day and if so what kind of weight fluctuation is normal? e.g. when should I worry? I've got no idea whether or not magically gaining 8g is just what is body does or if that's lots for a hedgehog.
He sleeps for AGES. I know babies sleep for ages. At 4 months does he still count as a baby? From what I know, the main growth spurt should be over already. He goes to sleep around 7am, and I get him up to handle around 9pm. Which is 14 hours and that's great, but usually he then prefers to sleep on me, if I let him until around 11pm. I always dim the lights when I handle him and I know he isn't scared of coming out with the lights dimmed because I've come back into the room to find him wheeling like its pitch black before. So sometimes he's dozy for a good 16 hours!
If he doesn't still count as a baby at his age, do some hogs just sleep loads?
Thank you all.
