Default Bringing home mine tomorrow!!!

So tomorrow is the big day! Unfortunately theyre calling for a massive snow storm with insanely cold temperatures. I dont exactly have any heating pads or hand warmers to keep him/her warm getting from the building into the car, then the car into the house. Well keep the car super warm though. Would he.. or she be fine for the 30 seconds if that, that hes..or she's out in that cold? Im not exactly sure what they have us bring it home in though. Am I worrying too much? Thanks!

It's best to have a hard-sided cat carrier for transportation...but if you guys don't already have one, it's probably too late to get one by tomorrow. You'll just want to get one soon so you have it on hand for trips to the vet, etc.

Can you call them tonight & find out if they have anything for you to bring hedgie home in & what that is? If it's a box or carrier of some sort, just make sure there's at least a couple fleece blankets in there and that hedgie is covered up well before you go outside. If they don't have anything either except for a sleeping bag or something (really not preferable, but it is what it is), tucking them into your coat before going outside would be a good way to go.

Are you 100% sure you can't get handwarmers tonight or tomorrow before you go? They're usually found in the outdoors/sports section in a Walmart, hardware store, etc.

I don't know if this may help too, but if you're able to get all the things that Lilysmommy has suggested, you could try covering the carrier with a blanket to block out the cold a bit more. It's what my mom did for my sisters when they were babies to keep them warm, so it should work with blocking the cold air at least.

Edit: haha, just realized, I don't mean my mom having them in pet carriers. XDD

Theyre closed now, Im going to bring one of the snuggle sack bed things with just incase, I cant imagine them not giving us at least a pet carrier box (kinda like petsmart has when you buy hamsters) because its through the pet store
(the breeder works with the store just to sell them, theyre never kept in the store, they all usually sell before they're old enough to leave anyways..and people pick them up from the store the day theyre old enough to leave to their new homes)

Depending on how long the trip is, you can improv a hot-water bottle by using a regular water bottle, then getting it filled with tea while you're at the mall. Wrap in a towel, and voila! Temporary heat source. It only works for about an hour at most, depending on the water bottle. (And the coffee shop employee needs to be careful not to burn their hands while filling it!)

That fast, you guys will be fine. Worst case, tuck him or her into your shirt and make a safe dash for it!

So, you going to sleep tonight?

Well, if you're at the pet store, that makes it easier - buy a cat carrier while you're there. You'll need one eventually anyway, so you might as well get one to take him home in, since it's safest. Take a couple of blankets of some sort, even if he's in the snuggle bag, you can make sure there's another blanket in the carrier to keep him covered, and put one over the carrier like Altearithe mentioned. It's even more important to make sure he's in a carrier if the weather's bad, since it's more likely you'll get in an accident.
