Default Hedgie & Birdie

i'm getting a 4-month old cockatiel next weekend so i'm wondering if it's okay to have the hedgies hanging around near where the bird is since they'll be in the same pet room and i'll be hand-training it so there's a chance that the bird might fly straight into the hedgie's bins haha..

thanks in advance

I think limited contact would be ok, although I'd keep the bird out of the hedgies bin/living area. But you can ask your vet to see if they know of any bacteria that could be picked up by your hedgehog.

Agreed with setting up measures to at least keep the bird out of the hedgehog's living area. I'd be concerned about health both ways - birds can have a pretty fragile immune system sometimes, and like hedgehogs, they tend to hide illness until it gets serious. I wouldn't encourage direct contact & be cautious until you see how personalities will get along, to avoid injuries.

no actual physical contact, noted!

i got the cockatiel last night. still under quarantine but i got it directly from the breeder's aviary.

the hedgies don't seem to notice the presence of the bird when i first got it in and started to squeak.

Congrats on the new bird! I love birds & can't wait to have one (or probably more ) someday. I hope he/she settles in well with you.
