Default Scratching?

I have taken Obie to the vet because I feared that she might have mites (The original owner didnt tell me much about her health). She is 10 weeks old and according to the vet, is a perfectly healthy hedgehog with no mites or dry skin whatsoever. Yet, I notice she scratches alot. Am I being paranoid and hedgehogs scratch alot normally? Do I need to bathe her? She doesn't smell unusual or anything.

I use Kild-dried Pine bedding, its what the breeder used.

Well she's probably quilling- which irritates the skin which can cause the itching.

Yeah, Gertie is a little itchy lately, due to quilling.

The thing to pay attention to is not the scratching itself, but HOW she's scratching. If it's a lazy scratch, or a sporadic scratch, it's probably no big deal. If it's frantic scratching, like she just can't take it, then I'd worry. Keep checking her over for mites, and try giving her an oatmeal bath. It helps calm the skin and reduce itching. Gertie hates baths, but she loved her oatmeal bath, and it helped a ton. I had some Aveeno eczema therapy oatmeal bath for the kids, but you can do it with just regular oatmeal too.
