Default Treats

We've only had Sonic for a week now since we brought him home. We've just been keeping him on his regular food until he gets comfortable with us and surroundings. I've read a lot of the suggested foods that people give their hedgehogs, but I'm more curious to know what is your hedges favorite fruits and vegetables? Even meat? Cause I may try some of your preferences/ideas before adventuring! We do give him meal worms, and he is a fatty when it comes them! Doesn't let them sit for very long.

My hedgie actually refuses to eat mealworms so we have tried quite a few things over the months in attempt to find things he would like.

The items we found to be most successful included (non-seasoned but cooked) chicken, salmon, hard boiled eggs (if I remember correctly he loves the yolk best), and baby foods. Favorite baby food flavors for Henry included peas/chicken and sweet potato. I'd say of all those chicken would be the absolute favorite. I'm just always sure to break anything into very small pieces so he doesn't choke. It's been kind of fun trying new things and figuring out what he responds to best.

There is a hedgehog safe food list for treats on the forum if you also want to take a look at that. It's also got the foods to stay away from listed just to be sure you don't accidentally give hedgie something he shouldn't have! Here's the link: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=19408

Good luck!
