Default Is this normal? lower back has less quills

So I've had Quilla for about a month, and even at 6 weeks old she has always had less quills on her lower back. Whens shes on all fours it doesn't stick out that much but when she rolls up you can really tell. She is quilling at the moment, you can see some new quills popping through and she has been losing 10 a day or so. I pointed it out to the breeder when I bought her and she said it would fill in more later. So is this normal or not, when I look at other peoples pictures I don't notice this at all.

I think it always looks a bit like that when they ball up especially when they don't have their adult quills yet. Mine is an adult;

Yeah, when they are fully balled up the lower back's skin is stretched up more than the rest of their body, so I think it's normal. Do you see gaps when she's relaxed?

No when she is relaxed and on all fours, you can barely notice it. She's been eating, drinking, wheeling, everything else very normal. She was on insectivore and purina one when I got her and we have been slowly changing over to Solid Gold and Blue Buffalo, I have about a tablespoon left of the old food. I'm sure the low quality food wasn't helping her quill quality and growth.

When Sophie was 6 weeks old, she was a bit thin on quills all over. When she put her quills up, you could see a fair bit of skin. As she got older her quills got longer, and they also got much thicker as more and more quills grew in.

She never ever balls up on me anymore. This picture was taken the second day that I had her. Not real happy to be woken up. They might have been short and thin, but those quills were wicked sharp. I hate to think about how fearsome she'd look if she balled up now.

I agree, those quills look normal! Thistle has similar coloring and she also looks like that in a ball, I was concerned at first too. I love that name Quilla
