Default Help

Do you guys prefer fleece bedding or traditional bedding . I was thinking about fleece bedding because its easier to clean. But then I rememeber im used a plastic tub as a home. If I was using fleece as a bedding would I just lay it down on the bottom of the tub ?

Most prefer fleece. You can just throw it in the wash with some no scent soap and it washes up great!

Most often it will sit flat and you can weigh it down with food/water dishes and the like. If need be, you can always Velcro it down.

Also it's cheaper and neater than most bedding in the long run.

I switched to fleece shortly after getting my hedgie and I love it...would never think of switching back. It's easy to spot clean the poops each morning so I can go a few days before changing out linings. Easy to wash too- I do a load of "hedgie laundry" about once a week. I sewed small Velcro squares into the corners of the liners and put corresponding squares onto the bottom of the cage. It works great...and never even gave my hedgie the chance to figure out how to dig under it ("liner diving" as they call it around here). Lots of people mention using the heavier ceramic food/water bowls to keep it weighed down as well, which I recommend anyways if you want to reduce risk of hedgie making a mess of his cage all the time.

I second that.

We started w/ aspen. Suuuuper stinky and annoying. Might work for some, didn't work for us. Switched to fleece and love it. Weighing it down helps. Wheel on one end, home/igloo/whatever on the other end. Food and water dish on one side. It all weighs it down. Ever now and then he may try to fleece dive but that's just hedgie life
