Educate a business, perhaps?

1 Attachment(s)
I posted some time ago worried about a pet store local to me stating that they were to be carrying hedgehogs. They got their exotics license, but I do believe their hedgehogs are provided by one of their employees, which I am positive does not have a license. She may not need one, but I felt that their care in store needed some attention.

Firstly, they are Pets on Broadway in Oregon and can be found on Facebook. I have already annoyed them enough about their reptile and amphibian care, so I do not believe they will accept any information from me, especially because their staff is always the "expert" on the matter.

As for care, multiple male hedgies together on shredded newspaper bedding. They sell a hedgehog diet, and have a wire wheel. I am mostly concerned about the wheel and their housing multiple males together Here is a photo.[attachment=0:g4zsm64x]ImageUploadedByTapatalk1362600530.317941.jpg[/attachment:g4zsm64x]

If anyone would kindly post some advice about the major concerns on their page, I would be very reassured. I sincerely do not care for this store's practices.

Oh great, they're carrying hedgies now too? UGH. Oregon seriously has the crappiest pet stores selling hedgehogs. I'll see if I can politely make some suggestions and maybe stop in sometime and drop off some cards to give customers that links to our book download, so anyone who chooses to buy from them will at least have some good care info.

Thanks! I was hoping you in particular would note this, since you're so close by. I have chosen my battles with them, and I'm already riding a very thin line when I'm publicly denouncing their care practices on herps.

I don't understand why petstores don't just do some research on hedgehogs, or any pet for that matter. It wouldn't be that hard...

This particular store relies on the expert advice of their employees, who assume that their way of keeping an animal is the correct way. I have had very heated arguments with their "axolotl specialist." basically, if one of their employees has a cool pet, they trust their care advice. The manager is pretty reasonable, the issue is getting in contact with her through the buffer of ignorant staffers. I have seen results when I contact the manager directly.
