Default squeaking hedghogs

Hi,
I have two desert hedgehogs in my garden, I don't know their sexes.
Last night I've heard them squeaking, and I'm not sure if it's a mating ritual or that they are fighting.
How can I know?
Also, what should I do if they are fighting each other?

Given the time of year, I would guess they're courting/mating, or fighting for mates/territory, depending on the sexes. I think I would just leave them alone - let nature carry on with what it's doing. Most likely scenario is mating, I think. And I wouldn't think (wild) hedgehogs would be a "fight to the death" kind of animal over mates/territory, so if it's two males, I'm sure one will move along before there's any big damage done to either of them. I would just wait and watch/listen to see if there's more interactions...if it's mating you may end up with mama & babies in your garden soon. Make sure if you have any pets, you keep a close eye on them for the next couple of months, just in case! Dogs and cats are a huge problem with attacking/disturbing wildlife, especially in the spring with babies.

I'm sure you're in a very different part of the world than we are, but regardless of what "season" it is, pretty much all of the above are possible. I wouldn't worry, and just let nature take its course. If they are fighting, one will will probably drive the other out to find a new territory. Because they're wild, I wouldn't interfere with them keeping their own pecking order.

Thanks for your answers,
I'm from Israel (which is on the northern hemisphere ) so it is the beginning of the spring now.
The thing is that my garden is closed so the hedgehogs can't go out even if they want to...
The first one was stuck next to my parking so I let him/her stay in the garden and some months later I've found another hedgehog in my street so I've took him/her in because I've seen many hedgehogs that got run over in my area, and also I thought about that maybe someday they will be able to mate...

If they are squeaking angrily/fearfully (you should be able to tell the difference) rather than what sounds like more of a baby peeping for its mother, they're fighting. If it's more of a peeping sound, I wouldn't worry. If they're fighting though, I'd find a way to open up your garden so one of them can leave if it wants. It's better than forcing them to cohabit in a territory too small for the two of them.

I've just checked their sexes and I believe both are females...
So should I take one out of the garden?

I'd just leave your garden gate or what not, open so if they want to leave they can. They may just be fighting because they're confined to a smaller area than is natural for them, and they have less access to enough food.
