Unhappy Moderate Wheeler, and Poopy Corner.

My odd-unball is still just that. I've done the flour trick and Pippin is only wheeling every second or third night. Poops are well formed, clear urine, and temps between 74-77 ( I know 77 is a tad high, fighting a draft and I get a high spike in temps. Trying too pin down draft.), Fleece liners, no changes in detergents. Her eating habits haven't changed, still on the VVH Brand food, weight is holding steady.. if anything she's growing, not fat, just long. Lights are on a fourteen on ten off schedule, nails inspected daily, trimmed every three weeks, toes look good, pads look good. She is now 3 months old, she's handled nightly for at least an hour, she usually sacks out splatting next to my thigh for awhile(could be an hour or three before she's up for a snack) before she's hungry. Normal or is this just her lifestyle? A moderate wheeler?

Also, she has taken to pulling the paper towel out of her litterpan. She doesn't tear it up, just pulls it out to her poopy corner and does her thing under the towel. I have actually watched her do it. It's weird. Any insights on that little quirk?

I'm not terribly experienced, but from what I understand about hedgies, they may decide that where you've put things in their cage just is not where they want them! Maybe she's moving the paper towels from the litter pan and over to the corner because that's where she believes it should go! Silly little girl! Either way, she sounds healthy and happy with you! As long as she keeps at a good weight and her poops check out okay, I wouldn't worry about her wheeling. Maybe she just isn't a big runner.

Pippin is an odd hedgie, but I still have to wonder about her from time to time. The paper towel thing started when we switched brands, so I sort of get it, but not really. Why move it to the poopy corner instead of leaving it in the pan under her wheel? LOL. And just because she's so darned cute and I love her pink nose:

That nose is absolutely adorable. I just love her coloring in general, she's a lovely little girl! Maybe switching the brands was part of the issue then. A strange form of performance protest? lol

Performance protest? That's a new one on me. Lol. Anyone else have some ideas out there?

She's gotta keep you on your toes. My Dini did a variation of that when he was younger. Instead of sleeping in his hideout, he slept in his litter pan. Or between the wheel and the wall. This lasted until we gave up on correcting him, then he wasn't satisfied anymore and went back to his hideout. Hedgies are silly creatures.

She sleeps in her sack. She just pulls the towel out and poops under it and hops on her wheel, if it's a wheeling night. It's just weird. I'm probably over thinking her life choices. I'm not concerned, more curious than anything.

She's young yet, she's just experimenting with her powers of control.

My girl does't use her wheel, I don't know why and I have no idea what she does all night. She does like to play and explore in her playpen so I just make sure she gets her exercise that way as she was chubby. As far as the paper towel thing goes I bet it's because you switched brands and this one smells different, I know I can only give Skittles toilet paper rolls from one brand because I switched once and she was trying to eat it.
