Exclamation Would anyone be interested in a fundraiser?

Would anyone be interested in participating if I were to set up a fundraiser? (for the Hedgehog Welfare Society, I am thinking)
http://hedgehogwelfare.org/index.asp

There would be two roles:
Sponsors could donate art or hedgehog supplies;
Donors could receive the items for minimum donations.
You could be either or both a sponsor and a donor.

A sponsor could, for example, donate a snuggle bag.
The fundraiser would ask for a minimum donation of $10 + shipping for the snuggle bag. (shipping hits $2.50 keeping within US)
$10 would go to HWS, and $2.50 would go to the Sponsor to cover shipping.
If the donor decides to donate more than $10, the additional amount will go to HWS.

It is possible to offer items that would appeal to non-hedgehog owners as well.
If there is a particularly nice item, perhaps an ebay auction?

It just seems like it would be a fun, beneficial community thing to do

You might want to do it as an auction. I know greytalk.com does this for Hope for Hounds with the proceeds going to fund cancer research in greyhounds at OSU. They have had a huge success with this Auction. I know some of the mods and maybe I can get them to lend you some ideas to help out? One of the girls on there had a hedgie. She was an honorary greyhound. I'd be willing to bet they'd be more than happy to help you get organized. Just P.M. me and I'll start making some inquiries if you want.

that would be cool Since I've never organized a fund raiser before.
All auction format would be nice, to ensure every items sells/brings in funds.

I'll PM you once I get more feedback

We've been planning to do a "ladder" style raffle later in the year with our various supplies (wheels, bags, etc.) with money raised going to the HWS. If you do put something like this together, count me in for a few things. I just added hedgie tunnels to our stock too!

I'd be willing to donate some money or bid on items.

Oh cool And thanks!
Is ladder style "donate this much, get this item" and then it kind of adds items as you go?

Sweet

I think if I do this I will have to time it to occur between school semesters so I can devote enough attention to it.

There are a few different ways to do ladder style. The one we have planned is a raffle, with each "ticket" being $1. It would start with a certain prize, and with certain levels reached, more prizes would be added. So say once we get to 50 tickets "sold", something is added. Same with 100, 150, and so on. Better prizes and more winners as you go up. I have the whole thing outlined to be implemented sometime later in the year. And of course, all the money raised from the tickets goes to the HWS.

that is brilliant

Do you think the HWS would put the fundraiser in its newsletter to increase activity? Or should I stick to advertising on my own?

Can't hurt to ask.

You need to discuss the fundraiser with HWS before doing it. I'm sure it would be fine with them and welcomed, but it's always best to ask.
