Default URGENT HELP PLEASE! Hibernation attempt?

Hi, panicking here!
Seems like Rupert tried to hibernate or something tonight.
His cage is usually around 24/25 degrees, came home tonight and it was 21, looks like the thermostat is broken. He was awake when I got him out of his bed and huffed as usual, but he was very groggy and let me cuddle him. He felt a little cold underneath. I'm warming him up now and he's still awake, but looking very sleepy. Very worried! Don't know what to do :/ Any advice appreciated!

if you just keep him warm, he should be alright! try to put him under a heat lamp, or on a heat pad if you cant keep snuggling with him. You really just have to keep him warm. if he does go into hibernation, take him to the vet! i hope he is ok! good luck!

Sometimes after hibernation attempts, hedgies will be more sensitive to even the slightest of heat difference. So maybe you can invest in a secondary option, just in case something like that happens again. Hope he's ok!!!!

Thanks, put him back in his cage now he's warmed up again and bumped the temp up a little. Just hope he's feeling better in the morning. He just seemed really sleepy and lethargic even though he was warm again and hasn't touched his food yet

It might take him a couple hours to get completely over it and go back to eating and such. Good job getting him warmed up right away - that's the most important thing, followed by raising the temperature. Sounds like you handled it just fine! Definitely keep an eye on him and his cage temp for a week or so to make sure he doesn't attempt again, and see if you can fix/replace the thermostat (though that's probably pretty obvious!).

Keep an eye on him and his cage temp. With one hibernation attempt under his belt, he is more likely to try again.

When you get a replacement thermostat, you might want to pick up a spare... seems like they konk out at the most inconvenient times.
