Default Bonding

Hi everyone! I recently adopted a female hedgehog. Overall, she has a good temperment. However, I am worried because she has adjusted her schedule to avoid human interaction. I was told by the breeder to not disturb her when she is sleeping. At this point she doesn't get up until we have all gone to bed and goes to sleep before I even wake up. So, do I wake her so that I can have time to bond with her, but risk her being huffy?

(This is my third hedgehog. My last was a male and it's been about 11 years. He was a big grump, but he didn't hide like this. It's been a long time, so I'm sure I've forgotten a lot.)

Hedgehogs are one of those animals who just don't seek human interaction; if you don't wake them up, there is a high likelihood you will end up with a very grumpy hog who wants nothing to do with you, ever.

it's fine to wake them up for bonding; they will usually fall right asleep on you anyway, so it's not like your waking them up and keeping them up for hours. I usually take Coco out for an hour or two in the evenings. She falls right asleep, and doesnt seem to care at all.
