I’ve used wood pellets in the past. As long as they’re unscented, low dust (which pellets shouldn’t have hardly any to begin with), and not cedar, they should be fine whatever brand!

Those wood pellets from the pet store should be fine but price is inflated because they are from the pet store. You can get the same thing at a hardware store or feed store for a fraction of the cost. A huge 40lb bag will cost less than what the pet store charges for the little bag.

I figured, I’ll remember that for next time! 🙂

Yup, I was surprised too when I got my hedgehog! Eventually I switched from the normal shredded bedding to soft blanket liners. Now I spot clean her cage every morning with paper towels, and switch the liners out about once a week to wash them, or whenever they get a bit too dirty. It's helped! (Just have to make sure the liners aren't anything their nails can get caught in)

I’ve done the same thing! I’ve switched to fleece liners and spot clean daily. So far, so good!! I use a pan under his wheel with wood pellets and that’s been working. 😊
