Default Scratches

My hedgehog scratches a lot. Ive put some coconut oil on her back to help with the dry skin. But I've noticed that she's been losing some quills now and then and been scratching a lot. So is she quilling?

How old is she? Can you see new quills coming in? Hedgehogs don't usually scratch when they are quilling.

At 9 months they dont quill. They may loose a few odd quills tho.
Can you see new ones growing in ?? How much is she scratching ??

I dont know if dry skin can make them itch, i know mites make then scratch a lotttt and quilling made Holly scratch a little but she didnt have mites. But being 9 months I dont think its quilling.
But as I said Holly losses a few quills still and shes 9 months

Maybe try asking your vet to check for mites or if its just dry skin.

If she scratching at lot then she most likely has mites but it could also be a bacterial or fungal skin infection. Only a vet visit is going to be able to diagnose which it is and prescribe the proper treatment.
