Default Heating Help for Newbie

Hi! I'm new. We just got a 7 week old baby girl and she' s pretty outgoing. I haven't gotten her a CHE yet. We got a large cage for her. 42 inches X 18 inches (and 20 inches high). It's a plastic tub with a metal cage and I cut fleece for the bottom.

Do you think one CHE 150 watt with a dome will be good? I need a thermo stat too, right? And a digital thermometer.

Anything else in terms of heating? Can I just put the dome on the top of the metal cage?

Yea that sounds good make sure your dome can use a 150w bulb make sure you get one that produces no light, yes you do need a puls thermostate for controlling the heating, and a digital thermometer for checking the exact temp of the cage.
And yes you can sit the dome on the metal bars

1 bulb/lamp should be enough.

I switch out the ceramic bulbs depending on the season. In the spring & fall (in DC) I use a 75W bulb & in the winter I use a 100W or 150W bulb. I also line her cage with extra fleece in some areas.

I set my lamp at an angle so it can cover more surface area. I do make sure there’s an area of the cage that’s not heated just in case she gets hot. But the thermostat is set to 80F so it cuts the lamp off if the cage gets too much warmer & cuts it back on if the temp drops below 80F.

To help you out reference wise here’s some links for what I bought:

The cage should be heated evenly, there shouldn't be any area that is cooler.
