I've always loved Hedgehogs. And I've been begging my parents to get me one for awhile now. But today I just hald a puppy and it was so soft and cuddly... should I be pushing for a puppy instead??? Do you guys think Hedgehogs are better than dogs... if so why?

Hedgehogs once relaxed can be really cuddly, actually I found my hedgehog more cuddly than the dog haha.
Really in the end its whichever you would prefer to have. Dogs tend to be loyal to the ones in charge and the ones who feeds them the most. You have to train a dog a lot, and walk it twice a day. But they are cery playful especially as a puppy. Also most holdays in the same country a dog will be able to come, and its easier to find someone who can look after a dog while your away, as the dog can go to them. Hedgehogs once bonded to you, will always love you more than anyone else. And although you only get to cuddle them in the evenings, they will just lay there cuddled up to you for hours. They are also very amusing and you can watch them play. You dont have to walk hedgehogs. But you do have to clean its wheel daily, its litter weekly, and when/how often you clean the cage can vary. They cant really come on holidays but rare ones I think are fine. Also its really hard to find someone to look after them, because you need someone happy to handle them, clean the wheel, also to not unsettle the hedgehog it would be better to get them to go to your house. Money wise its about the same. May be a slight differnce |

Some hedgehogs will never cuddle, they just want to run around and explore. If you want a pet that looks forward to seeing you, gets excited when you come home and seeks you out to spend time with you then a dog is better for you than a hedgehog.
It sounds like you're very undecided in what you want in a pet so you should try to spend time with both animals for awhile and see which one is a better fit for you. Asking us to say which is better is like asking someone to say which is better, a sports car or a truck. Both are great but it depends on what your looking for. |
