Hedgehog Struggling to move
We have just returned from the Vets for a second time in 3 days due to Pebbles falling on one side at first we thought sprained her leg on her wheel, was given some painkillers but after 24hrs from the first visit she became worse and was struggling to lift her head to get to her food bowl.
After gathering information off a recognised breeder was suggested that the cause was either a ear infection or possibly which we didn’t want to be told is a stroke causing brain to not function properly. Just arrived back from the vet he ruled out ear infection on the grounds he could’nt see no infection when he checked her ears only a build up of healthy wax he said he would expect to see discharge if the ear was infected. So unfortunately what we didn’t want to hear he seems to think her brain isn’t functioning properly he gave her a small dose of steroids and antibiotics to see if that would help he said he’s not expecting miracles and to ring him tomorrow with a update on her progress.
Woundering if anyone else has had a similar problem with there hedgehog Pebbles is nearly 3 years old she still huffs and is responsive when you touch all legs she just not herself sometimes motionless and un-mobile. I noticed around 4 weeks ago she was using her wheel a lot less and lost a bit of weight.
Hopefully she can pull through if anyone has any guidance or experience with any of the symptoms be very great full for any help.
