Default Temperature Question

Hey everyone, so we are new to the hedgehog world, but with tons of research and preparation we bought our first hedgehog!
I have a cage 36in L x 16 in H x 20in Wide.
I am using a 8 in heat lamp with a 100Watt CHE over the right side of the cage, her hut being on the left side. The right side with the CHE is reading 80-80.6 degrees VIA a digital zoo med thermometer, while the left side of the cage has dropped down to 68 degrees which I know is a little cold for them. This is while the AC is on, in my basement. We like to sleep with the AC on overnight at which it can get very chilly in the apartment. Does anyone have any recommendations how to keep her cage comfortable for her without having to constantly monitor the thermometer/time we leave the AC on?

The best way to keep her cage at a steady temperature is to get a 10 inch dome for the CHE, move it to the center of the cage and get a thermostat to control the CHE. You want the entire cage the same temp with no cooler areas as that can cause hibernation.

Okay thank you so much, do you mind linking me to a thermostat you recommend? And is 100Watt Che good?

You could also try coving the bars on the sides to keep more heat in the cage. And just leave the ones at the top open for ventaltion.

Sorry I'm not good at linking heating items because when I had my hedgehogs I had a room that I kept at the correct temperature. I never used a CHE.

+1 for some coverage along the side. Thin cardboard panels and some zip ties would make this an easy add on. Even a few nches would make a big difference.

+1 for automation, see attached link for what i found to be the most cost effective control center. (atleast on amazon.ca). Center the lamp and use one of these and youre golden.
