Default Reasonable concern?

I only had my first hedgehog Sonic for about a week before he started to bleed out of his genitals and died the next day (he was an adult when I got him and his owner said he had never had this happen) One of the possibly causes I thought of was that I let him out on my carpet, which can have a lot of bacteria. As a result I never let my hedgehog Oliver on the carpet because I don't want want to risk it! Do you think this is a reasonable concern or am I being overly cautious?

This is your hedgehog that you posted about on the 21st, correct? The best way to determine the cause of death is to have an autopsy done. You said in your other post that you only had the hedgehog for a couple of days before he started bleeding (and then death), so I don't THINK it was because of your carpet/infection from your carpet, but probably something he had before you got him.
As for your next hedgehog, if your carpet is quite dirty, I wouldn't put him on it for a number of cleanliness reasons.

How is your other hedgehog doing? I hope you have tried to save money for future vet visits!

it is the same hedgehog I posted about. My new hedgehog is doing well! As I said in the comments of the other post the issue was more that he got sick and died within 1.5 days than the price, I was planning on taking him to the vet the day he died.
