Question Party?? Loud noises.

Hello! I’m looking after a hedgehog over the holidays for my school, he seems very nervous. I am planning on having a party next week with louder (not too loud music) and a few people over. The people will probably scream however and I was just making sure it’s not going to cause him too much stress. He is kept upstairs in a room of his own and most of the loud noises will be downstairs and outside. Do you have any advice on this matter? Also some advice on how to make him less nervous would also be greatly appreciated.

It's already going to be stressful for him to be moving locations (from the school to your home), and if he's a class pet he's probably already stressed out from just that alone. Hedgehogs don't make good class pets for lots of reasons.

He's nocturnal and a prey animal, so loud environments at any time isn't ideal for him. Try to keep it as quiet as possible for him - we can't judge how loud you'll play your music, how loud your guests will scream, and those are definitely not great for him, but having them be on a different floor/outside is a start.

Making him less nervous is a long term task, because he needs to be bonded with/socialized and handled with care daily, in order to earn his trust. Overall, he needs to be happy and comfortable in order to not be so nervous.
